Dear parents, students and community members,
Mid year reports will be available to parents/carers on Friday 7th August. A progress marker will be provided for Literacy, Numeracy and Society & History for all students. Secondary students will also receive ratings for Science and Health & wellbeing. Written comments will provide additional information to advise you about your child’s learning in each of the learning areas. A letter, attached to the report, will assist you to interpret your child’s progress and the minimum stage they are expected to attain by the end of each year.
The written report is again supported by a Parent-teacher meeting [Tuesday 18th & Wednesday 19th August] and I ask you to complete the request form included with the report should you require an interview with any member of staff.
Thank you to Jane McCann and Tanya Wright for their much valued service to the school – both have opted to resign from the Department due to changes in personal circumstances. Jane has worked in 2009 as a Teacher Assistant supporting students with additional needs, whilst Tanya has had a long association with the school both as a Teacher Assistant, executive member of the School Association [President 2001 – 2002] and employee of the ENE Sports Association. I wish both Jane and Tanya all the best for their future. In farewelling Jane and Tanya it is also opportune to welcome Linda Smithurst to our teaching team – Linda will be assuming joint responsibility for our Grade 4/5 class – we wish her well for a positive 2009.
Congratulations to a number of students for their recent artistic achievements. Our primary students entered a number of pieces in the Campbelltown Show – their efforts resulted in the school being awarded 1st prize in the primary sector. Their masterpieces are on display in the main entrance to the school. Similarly Zoe Greenfield was successful in winning a prize in the Jodie Campbell portrait competition. Zoe’s entry was featured in our last newsletter. Well done to both staff and students for your commitment to visual art.
Over the next few weeks many of our students will be involved in off campus activities such as Work Experience, Grade 9 camp and the NEET ski trip. I trust you enjoy and take up the many challenges that will be encountered remembering at all times the ambassadorial responsibilities you assume.
Regards,
Brian Shepheard
